The local PC store yesterday launched the new premium thin and light ASUS Zenbook 13 and 14 notebooks at the 22nd Consumer Fair at the International Convention Centre, Berakas, in a move to revitalise interest of the ASUS brand in the sultanate.

“These are smallest Zenbooks we’ve ever made. The 13-inch model is as small as an A4-sized paper,” said Leo Tseng, Country Manager of ASUS Malaysia, who was in Brunei to launch the new laptops.

Leo Tseng explained that this breakthrough innovation is possible thanks to ASUS’ own research and development.

“What makes the Zenbooks so compact is we use our frameless “Nano Edge” display, which gives the laptop ultra slim bezels on all four sides and 95 per cent screen-to-body ratio,” he added.

And despite their ultra-compact size, Tseng said, ASUS is still able to include two USB-A and one USB-C ports as well as a micro-SD memory slot onto the new Zenbooks, unlike other premium ultrabooks on the market.

In addition, the Zenbooks pack quite a punch under the hood with up to 8th generation Intel Core i7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 MAX-Q graphics, 16GB RAM, ultrafast PCIE SSDs and gigabit-class WiFi.

Interestingly, ASUS also managed to include a numeric keypad, a feat never before seen on any ultrabooks this size. This LED-illumated “Number Pad” is built into the Zenbooks’ touchpad and can be activated when needed.

All models feature a special 3D IR camera that allows fast face login using Windows Hello, even in low-light environments.

ASUS is targetting productivity users for its new Zenbook series. The stylish Royal Blue or Icicle Silver finish, enhanced by the Rose Gold trim panel above the keyboard, gives it a premium, executive feel.

“I believe it will be the ideal choice for our fellow Bruneians – especially for users who venture into business, entrepreneurship and fashion design,” Leo Tseng said.

The country manager said that ASUS will continue to support CF King in promoting the ASUS brand in the sultanate.

“CF King has always been our loyal partner since ASUS first entered Brunei,” added Leo Tseng.

Established in 1981, CF King is one of Brunei’s longest-serving PC retailers and is a distributor of ASUS computer products.
