Say goodbye to ‘no network’ along the Telisai-Lumut Highway.
Progresif Cellular has just installed a new cell tower that will provide network coverage for travellers using the 18-kilometre highway and residents nearby.
The new tower, which was officially launched yesterday, is part of Progresif’s series of network expansion plans for Telisai in Tutong District, which will see a total of three new sites going on-air in the area this year.
Progresif CEO Paul Taylor said the new Telisai-Lumut Highway tower will enable the company to deliver its network services to its subscribers that travel along the highway.
“The new tower will help drive connectivity and coverage for our customers so that they can continue to work or enjoy their favourite websites and entertainment, including Progresif Radio.” said Taylor.
The company also revealed yesterday that it has recently invested B$2 million to enhance its network capacity at over 120 existing sites.
Tony Hanley, Chief Technology and Informaton Officer of Progresif, said that the number of Progresif towers has increased by 20 per cent with 40 new sites going live over the past year.
“By making these continued investments, we can deliver a network that is readily able to keep up with the heavy demand for communications and data use,” he said.
Hanley said the telco has been working hard to increase its overall network capacity by 50 per cent and has built sites in remote areas such as Temburong. “We’re planning to drive our network into the more rural areas of Brunei so that the population can have access to the communication through the Progresif Network,” he added.
Progresif currently has over 250 sites across the sultanate, now serving more than 160,000 subscribers.
