Step aside Alipay. AirAsia has joined the digital wallet revolution with its own app BigPayMe, and it’s aimed at Asian markets.

Available on iOS and Google Play Store, the app can be used to make cashless payments at over 35 million Mastercard merchants worldwide as well as make cash withdrawals at any ATM that has a Mastercard logo.

The app can also do foreign exhcange remittance and money lending services in the future, riding on AirAsia’s huge database of 63 million names.

“One day this product will be worth more than @AirAsia”

BigPayMe does not require a bank account. Customers can order a BigPay card and top it up with sufficient balance in order to use it.

“Soon no more cash on AirAsia!” tweeted Tony Fernandes, the low cost airline’s Group CEO.

“Part of AirAsia Digital strategy. One day this product will be worth more than @AirAsia,” he added.
