Brunei’s largest telecommunications service provider DST is celebrating another milestone this year as its mobile prepaid service Easi turns 18.
In marking the anniversary, the telco is organising a two-day mini carnival at Jerudong Park Amphitheatre for its loyal customers.
Easi is the first and longest running mobile prepaid subscription service in Brunei and has the lion’s share of subscribers at over 300,000. The service marked its 18th year anniversary last month.
“We started with a humble beginning of only a few hundred subscribers in the early years, and now we’ve gained over 300,000 subscribers for prepaid alone,” said Hj Marsad Hj Ismail, DST’s Deputy CEO.
In his welcoming speech during the mini carnival launch last night, Hj Marsad highlighted the mobile industry’s evolution, demands of the public and technical availability which have influenced the journey of its customers.
“We celebrate what we have achieved and aspire to improve further as we accommodate diversity and lifestyle in our product development plans,” the Deputy CEO added.
DST also offers Prima mobile postpaid services, GO!Broadband 4G LTE mobile broadband, Kristal Astro cable subscription as well as its own radio station Kristal FM. Recently the company launched a TV streaming service for Bruneian consumers in partnership with Malaysia’s iFlix.
DST’s mini carnival is open to the public from 10am to 6pm today. The event consists of exhibitions, family activities and games as well as food and lifestyle bazaars.
Members of the public can visit the ‘Easi Exhibition Gallery’ to learn the evolution and milestones of Easi as a prepaid mobile and broadband service. Visitors can also view classic memorabilia of recharge cards and starter packs.
Visitors also stand a chance to win an iPhone 7 by purchasing a minimum of B$20 of DST products and services at the carnival.
The DST Mini Carnival was officially launched last night by State Legislative Council member Pehin Orang Kaya Pendekar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Hj Hasrin Dato Paduka Hj Sabtu.
