ITPSS cybersecurity competition slated for September

Calling all ethical hackers! ITPSS is holding a third edition of the annual cybersecurity competition “Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag” on September 3.

The event is a Jeopardy-style cybersecurity ‘capture the flag’ competition where participants will be presented with challenges based on real IT scenarios and are required to solve each challenges using their own computers to obtain a secret key (flag).

The flag is then submitted to a dedicated score server and the team is awarded points for each verified flag. The team with the highest points wins the competition.

A total prize pool of $7,500 cash is on the line for the top 3 teams.

The annual computer hacking competition is designed to highlight the importance of cybersecurity and the need for specialists in the field of information security in Brunei.

“The competition will serve as an educational excercise which inspires students to explore information secuirty as a profession,” said ITPSS, the local IT security firm and organiser of Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag.

This year, the competition is being supported by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). The institute will host the final round of the competition as part of its Science and Technology Week.

Participation is free and open to all residents in Brunei, but they must enter as a team of 2 or 3 members. There is no age limit.

The closing date for registration is August 28.
