Forget getting up super early and waiting in line for hours to get your IC renewed. Now there’s an app that lets you book a slot with the Immigration counter at your prefered date and time.
QueUP is developed by home-grown tech startup Dotroot Technologies, and is an extension to the government’s Smart Q pilot project system designed to help speed up counter services at the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) in Brunei.
With the system in place, applicants who wish to get their IC processed or renewed no longer have to face long queues at the Immigration counters. The public can use the QueUp mobile app to make reservations for IC-related services at their fingertips.
The free app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, while an iOS version is on the way.
After a one-time registration, users can select the department, service type and branch on the app. Once they’ve made a slot booking, applicants will receive a verification number and barcode.
On the day of their appointment, applicants must scan these barcodes at a kiosk located at the Immigration Department’s IC Division. The Smart Q system will then provide an approximate waiting time before the applicants are called to the counter.
applicants who wish to get their IC processed or renewed will no longer have to face long queues at the Immigration counters.
Smart Q is a a joint venture project between INRD and Rhymin & Partners Sdn Bhd. The system was officially launched by Brunei’s Home Affairs Minister Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong at the INRD’s IC Division Monday.
The system will undergo a three month trial before expanding to other services within the department in phases.
