Brunei now has ride-booking service Dart, but it’s high time that our public buses also get the Uber treatment.
Soon you’ll be able to track those buses with your smartphone and never miss a ride, thanks to a project currently being developed by two students from Politeknik Brunei.
According to today’s report on the Borneo Bulletin, the two students, Muhammad Al-Akif Irfan and Muhammad Amin Hj Fauzul, have made a prototype application called ‘E-Route’, which provides people with real-time tracking of buses, and allows users to find useful information such as updated routes, bus stop locations and seat availability.
The app will also feature mobile payment.
The report said the two students received a B$20,000 start-up grant from Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) to kickstart development after winning first place at a recent hackathon.
Muhammad Al-Akif said that the project is hoped to encourage more Bruneians to use public transport as well as enhance the efficiency of the current bus system in the sultanate.
