So you watch a lot of Youtube videos, alone. Sometimes you would invite a family member or co-worker to watch with you on your laptop, but most of the time alone.
Ever thought of watching Youtube with your friends online?
Microblogging site Tumblr has just released a mobile app, called Cabana, that allows you and your friends to video chat and watch Youtube videos together.
Up to six people can take part and watch videos that are streamed in a chat room in the app in real time.
The app was launched earlier today on iOS. An Android version is set to launch next month.
Cabana isn’t the first of its kind, however, as apps like Gaze, Houseparty and Airtime also offer a similar group video viewing experience.
But with the rise in popularity of Instagram Live, Facebook Live and Periscope, the idea of “co-watching” is certainly catching on, and all Tumblr needs to do is to stand out from the rest of the “co-watching” apps and services already available if it needs to survive.
So the next time you want to react to the next The Last Jedi theatrical trailer with other Star Wars fans, there’s an app for that.
